| One of the best Viburnums available, this plant is known by few people but cherished by birds everywhere. One look at its dense, rounded form tells you that it is a great plant to provide cover and nesting area to a considerable group of our favorite birds. What you might not know is that birds are enthralled by the dark blue to black berries produced in the late summer as a result of big, fragrant, white colored April-May flower heads. Even better, 'Winterthur' tolerates partial shade well while growing famously in a wide range of soils from dry to moist. 'Winterthur' is perfect alone or in groups to create a bird friendly, native hedge and it will take your breath away in the fall with a foliage show of crimson-purple color that must be seen to be appreciated. |
