Fagus sylvatica 'Purple Fountain' Weeping Beech

Purple Fountain is a deciduous, columnar, dark leaved tree that matures into one of the most breathtaking specimen trees in the woody ornamental world. The combination of its riveting, bronze-purple, wavy margined leaves and cascading branches makes it incredibly gazeworthy and unique. While its foliage takes on a more burgundy-green shade as it matures in the summer, you can still maintain the darkest purple growth if the tree is placed in full sun. 'Purple Fountain' differs from other weeping varieties due to its far more singular, columnar form and strongly upright growth that requires no staking. It even lights up the landscape in the fall and winter with a yellow, darkening to orange-brown display of color followed by its tight flowing form clothed in vibrant gray bark that jumps off a snowy backdrop in the winter.
