Hibiscus x 'Summerific Cranberry Crush' Hardy Hibiscus or Swamp Rose Mallow

Slightly shorter at maturity than many of the other large bloomers in this family, 'Cranberry Crush' is wider than tall allowing you to place it a little more toward the front of your garden. The huge, 7-8 inch wide scarlet flowers it produces jump out of the garden at you and it's so profuse blooming and colorful, you might just ignore all plants growing in front of it! Breakthrough hybridizing produces flowers all along the stems rather than just at the top like some other cultivars allowing it to put on a show that will be exciting and powerful. The flowers start out as nearly black buds opening to a glossy, dark scarlet flower with heavily overlapping petals. The flowers start in late July and are still blooming well into September. Glossy green maple-like leaves have a slight purple overtone and blend well with the spectacular bloom.
